Sorry this isn’t a book suggestion, but I thought it’d be kinda fun - I have a tradition of giving my pets punny writer names. Currently I have F. Scott Fishgerald and Margaret Catwood (Maggie for short). I’m getting a new kitten, a boy, and he doesn’t have a name yet! Best ideas I’ve had so far are…
My wife and I got married young, and over time we have grown apart as people quite a bit. I love her very much and accepted the differences between us but she doesn't love me anymore, and is no longer happy, so we're splitting up. I've moved out already. The whole thing is very sad for me but we are…
Bonus points if it portrays late 90s/early 2000s.
Ive been meaning to read something related to assassins, but im unsure what’s good and what’s not. (Action/Fantasy whatever comes up)
Look, I’m 24 years old and I pretty much think I have problems with ,growing old’ and would like to read a book which gives me advice how to handle that time between childhood and adulthood. Like for example preparing me, that my parents will actually die in a couple of years. Or giving me advice,…
Good morning everyone, I'm getting interested in philosophy and I'd like some books to start. Since I'm quite young I'd start with some easy books, but I don't mean high school books, even some university ones would be good to start. I spend almost all my free time thinking (also OVERthinking) so…
I know the movies pretty well. Being that they’re so long I can’t decide if knowing what will happen next will taint the reading experience.
Hi ppl! What are your TOP 3 books you would like to re read before you die? I've never really been a reader in my life but I want to change that. Could you recommend anything awesome? anything is fine! any genre!
Ok, so I recently watched the movie and I quite liked it. I know the book series is huge, and I've never really read any book series before, so that's something to take into consideration. To help with the suggestions, my favorite books are Steppenwolf, One Hundred Years of Solitude and the…
I haven't read anything by him so please recommend me something for a first timer like me. Thank you!
Just looking for a sci-fi book, preferably with a male main character, and a well developed romance that ties into the main plot but doesn’t overwhelm it. I feel a lot of books neglect romance for the central plot and vice versa so I’m looking for something with a healthy balance of each.
It feels like I am not yet ready, and I am really scared. Its making me anxiousss. Please suggest a book that can make me confident, ready to take action, organized, and proper really fast huhu
Catcher in The Rye, To Kill A Mocking Bird, What's Eating Gilbert Grape?, The Hate You Give are some titles I enjoy.
I am looking for something about social issues in the countries, especially about the role of women
Hey all, I am in a kind of a reading slump, not able to go past the first page of any of my TBR books. So was hoping you guys can help out. Any genre welcome. TIA
I really like vampire books, but the ones I've read in the past treated vampires like weird members of society and not like actual monsters. Then I read The Southern Book Club's Guide To Slaying Vampires and it was like the clouds cleared and the sun shined down on me as the idea that vampires could…
Hey guys, I just finished Dune and I liked it a lot. Do I continue the dune universe or do you guys have any other suggestions for me. I'm big into sci-fi and fantasy novels. There's just so much to choose from. Edit: I’m really appreciating this guys . Keep em coming!
The way Roald Dahl paints a full story, with clever twists and interesting characters in just a few pages is honestly a talent very few writers have. I was wondering what some of your favourite writers are that possess that same ability. Any suggestions?
Hi everyone, My husband and I have a Christmas tradition where we give each other new pajamas and a book on Christmas Eve and spend the evening reading. I’m at a loss for what book to get him. He loves YA, especially Percy Jackson. He’s read pretty much everything Riordan has ever written. He’s also…
Any book recommendations to help me start feeling more positive and make a change in my routine and also to decide what i want to do in life and what career i should pursue in order to become happy and successful( you can also suggest any books other than this that you think i should read) Thank you
Im 14 years old so i dont know a lot yet and i might have a hard time understanding hard books. Im intrested in things such as the universe natural science. Philosophy. I dont know where to get started with books on any of these subject. Can someone suggest me what to read first about the universe…
Nothing wrong with Twilight, it's just that I already know about it so it would be pointless suggesting it to me. I'm planning to write a vampire series for my Wattpad so I'm doing a little research. I'm looking for some good vampire novels, especially novels that really expand on the vampire lore…
I am scared of losing my parents, especially my mom. When I think about it, I start feeling very sad and alone. I know that everyone dies at some point, but sometimes it's hard to accept the reality. I already lost my elder sister a decade ago. Still, I miss her a lot. I know the pain of losing…
Something recently published would be preferred. Female lead or at least prominent female character is preferred. I love everything Naomi Novik has written, I love Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (which honestly could have been marketed as an adult novel), Brandon Sanderson, Holly Black, Neil Gaiman,…
Looking for a book with a lesbian romance (ideally not very steamy, not looking for erotica. Kind of along the lines of PG-13 sex can happen but I just don’t want a huge explicit detailed account of sexy bits because I tend to read while on the go and it creeps me out reading full on erotica in…
…and really loved it. Any recommendations for similar books?
I usually don't have the time to get through long books, so I thought I'd make use of quarantine to read one. So I'm looking for books that will take me a week to get through, but will be worth the effort.
What’s the best book series that you’ve ever read in your life? And I’m talking about the best characters, the best plot, best romance, etc.
Hi everyone - broad request - recently I bought the book of a film I saw on Netflix. I’m wondering if anyone has any book recommendations which tie in with any other films or series on UK Netflix. All fiction genres welcome. Thanks in advance!
I've been reading a lot of books like Sharp Objects, Silent Patient, The Woman in the Window, etc and while I love that genre, i'm looking to venture out into other page turners of different genres. I can get bored easily if the plot isn't engaging / making me wonder what's about to happen. I…
My dad is letting me use his phone for this. He is being annoying about it but he said that you would have good ideas. I liked Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy, Fortunately the Milk, The Machine Stops, Interview With The Robot, the Discworld for Kids series, Norse Mythology by Neil Gayman, the…
I run a book club and I’d love to find a fantasy novel that is not the first instalment of 3 or more books in a series. Is there such a thing for fantasy novels anymore?? Help!!
Yeah, so as the title says, I want something absolutely terrifying but not in a cheap horror sense. A book that made your blood freeze, remained in the back of your mind and didn't let you sleep at night. Horror, thriller, psychology, whatever you've got.
"The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed."
Such a great mind bender. Have you read anything that reminds you of this show?
Hey Fellow Bookworms, I’m here for a specific request today. I’m a college student. It’s my dad’s birthday and he LOVES reading. He was a stay-at-home dad and he was just absolutely wonderful. When I was a kid, he would go out of his way to get me any book I asked for and he would always read to me…
I'm currently reading Time Out of Joint and really enjoying it. It also reminds me a lot of the film the Truman Show, and parts of WandaVision where there's strange things happening and the characters are slowly being suspicious of their reality. Looking for similar books, bonus points if it's…
I could be in the mood for a good adventure, mystery, sci-fi, or mythology type genre. Or leadership, how-to, history, outdoors, various world views…you get the picture. Pretty much anything?
I didn’t like history very much when I was younger. But I have recently discovered I enjoy it a lot when it’s narrated as a novel and I’m looking for suggestions. PS: preferably not English history, I already have lots of suggestions on that topic.
Suggest me some of your favorite reads of 2021! Some of mine have been Project Hail Mary and Piranesi
I've always loved how K-dramas present romance and the way that many of them seamlessly blend elements of fantasy into their modern world, some of my favorites are Goblin: The Lonely and Great God, Strong Woman Do Bong-Soon, Drama world, and Black. I would love any recommendations!
I liked Lost, I liked everything about it besides the damn end. Are there any REALLY good books similar to Lost out there? Thanks! (I don't care if it's Horror, Thriller or Mystery) EDIT: I meant literally the lost on an island with mystery things going on part :D
Hello, I'm looking for books that start out normal, and slowly get completely nuts by the end like House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski and Fanged Noumena by Nick Land. Bonus points if the text itself becomes incoherent!
Just not in the mood for anything dark or edgy right now. Edit: My grandma passed away and I just want a warm hug of a book to distract me while I travel to the funeral.
As an Asian, I want to read some books not set in Western countries. Some of such books I really liked, * Shogun by James Clavell (Set in Japan and one of my favourite books ever) * Tai Pan also by James Clavell (Hong-Kong) * A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles (I know Russia is considered to…
I've been trying to look for a book that would at least help me heal. Thank you.
Hi guys, I'm looking for a book with a detective/macabre crime theme that also deals with reality and deep philosophical insights into Nietzsche and Marquis de Sade and toxic masculinity. I really liked this show but have never read anything like this. Love the HP Lovecraft influence while still…
A little background. A while ago, someone posted here asking for advice on how to combat his ignorance through reading. There was comment that really struck a chord with me and inspired me to start reading to increase my understanding of the world and also to value books beyond just for being…
I've recently been hard core binging the outlander series, and I'm looking for other romances that are similar in style. Basically that it's got a plot beyond the steamy stuff, and that the steamy sections are as well-written as the rest of the book. It's real frustrating to be into a romantic/sexy…
I was on r/AskMen [/r/AskMen] this morning reading a post about male stereotypes people feel are untrue and found it very interesting. As someone who’s currently in therapy dealing the the repercussions of certain masculine stereotypes being forced at a young age, I’d be interested in finding a…
The movie just came out. Part of me wants to wait until I have read the book. I know the Frank Herbert novel is often considered one of the best science fiction books of all-time. But I have also heard some mixed opinions about it. EDIT: To be specific, I only mean the first book.
Not the magical fantasy type though. The super power type. I know this also know this sounds cliche, but I also like the plot where there is one person who is more special than everyone else for some reason (like they might have more powerful abilities, or someone is hunting them for some reason, or…
Looking for good books where a small town is a big part of the story, almost like another character. Genre doesn’t matter, any good reads???
This has become one of my favorite films of all time. And I've read a modest amount of fantasy in the past. Is there anything out there that resembles the tone of this film? Magical, but dark. A protagonist searching for virtue and honor and failing at every turn, etc.
Susanna Clarke's book Jonathan strange and Mr. Norell, A fiction book about English magicians in the 1800s. 782 pages. A show was made based off of the book with the same title. The book is well worth reading and the show is well worth watching, however I would suggest reading the book before…
I am looking for books which are closer to Lovecrafts original works. About people discovering some ancient horror. Most of the books I read however had an emphasis on gore aspects, but I want a book with mystery/adventure. Thanks in advance!
title is vague and weird, but i’m looking for some books for my 60 year old dad for his birthday. he likes things that are more slow paced and isn’t into dark topics (generally). he LOVES history, so any historical fiction is a plus. if anyone has nonfiction recs, those are welcome too! generally…
Especially interested in cultures of Japan, Native America and Australia tia, legends.
Hey everyone! I'm looking for an erotic book to read with my SO. I'll just make a wishlist of things we'd like in a book, hopefully someone knows of a book that hits most of them: * Have a genuinely good plot, with well written, relatable characters! * Have some pretty hardcore and explicit…
I’ve been reading (well, listening actually) to a lot of thrillers lately and I’m looking for a palette cleanser. I’d like something cozy and happy and light. I love Jenny Colgan’s novels (found them through this sub). And I also like Mary Kay Andrews books. So, something similar. Not necessarily…
Any suggestions are welcome, basically I am looking for a book where main protagonist is afraid to make a move and change up his life, something along these lines, doesn't have to be exact. Thanks for any suggestions !
Title pretty much speaks for itself. I grew up in a pretty conservative household and spent all of grade and high school in Catholic school. My parents didn’t really talk about it or give me “the talk”, and given that I’m a pretty anxious person I typically shied away when my friends made any…
I love fantasy, and while I love the stereotypical castles and swords, I’m curious to see if there’s anything that would reflect influences from my culture. I’m Muskogee Creek, but I’d love a book from any tribe! I’m looking for YA but I’m open to adult fiction.
Last year, I read When Nietzsche Wept by Irvin Yalom, and it helped me get through a low point in my life. It’s a wonderful book, weaving elements of psychology with history and fictional narrative - you feel you live and learn with the characters. Im going through something like a breakup but not…
Looking for books somewhat similar to Hillbilly elegy. Doesn’t have to be about hill/mountain culture but about “white trash/rednecks”, drug addiction/alcoholism, and the mind set of the culture. Anything?
There's a post on r/Cooking [/r/Cooking] about providing food for the homeless (on the OP's own - not with an organization). Excellent points were made about not giving foods that create garbage (chicken bones) or that are too hard to eat (crunchy granola bars) because dental issues/tooth loss is…
Hello guys! So I’ve read a lot of recs here but it seems I haven’t found anything like that. If I’ve missed it, I’d be grateful for a link. My greatest mistake is that I’m too kind, like, your hyperbolized kind and trusting girl trope, and that’s the reason I’ve been facing a lot of problems in the…
I don’t know much about it, but the little that comes up in other books/movies describing different Native American mythology or some spiritual beliefs seems like it could be an intriguing concept for a fantasy and/or horror novel.
My mom has been wanting to get into reading. She has been asking for recommendations, and as she is in her late forties and I’m in my teens I don’t know what to suggest to her. She has tried Wuthering Heights and it is obvious that books with older language are not her forte. She has a shorter…
Please, don’t say fifty shades of grey.
[edit] Thanks guys, some really great suggestions here. Enough to keep me busy for a while haha. I really appreciate all you input. I've added all your recs to my goodreads account 'want to read' list. Hi friends, I would consider myself fairly conservative. I am a christian, and my faith is very…
Yeah, so... I think this kind of story is necessary. I just came across a mini comic (6 pages long) of Spider-Man, where he finds a homeless little girl that was a fan of his, and... Well, I guess there's no right way to put it. It's 6 pages long, and barely has any dialog, so you can read it in two…
My daughter is 5 and has begun to encounter things in the world that are scary and broken, like death and infertility. I don't try to hide things from her. I want her to grow up understanding that the world is broken and that sometimes brokenness is beautiful. That we need to let ourselves feel…
As the title says I'm looking for some World War One stories: this can be either in the diary format from an actual accounting - like Eugene Sledge or Robert Leckie from World War Two - or a work of fiction that is heavily historically accurate and includes real events as part of the narrative. I'd…
A strange request! I have a family friend whose daughter has confided in me about feeling left out of everything. She herself is 13, and her younger sibling 7. Her younger sibling has additional needs and so gets more attention. She is also forced to stay at home during the holidays and look after…
I’d love to read a novel around a small tea shop. Urban fantasy or a cozy mystery would be great, but I’m open to anything. Other tea related novels are welcome too. Thank you so much!
Hi! I'm working on my undergraduate thesis analysing vulgarity/sexual terms, do you guys have any suggestion of books with lots of sexual terms (or swearing words with sexual terms), something like 'cunt', 'pussy', 'dickhead', 'little prick'? Not necessarily sexual books tho. Thanks!
Stephen King and Murakami are among my favorite authors. I would like to read something that marries the two writing styles. I’ve read all of McCarthy, and love him.
I just read two pretty dense books back to back and would like a short easy to read book as a break
MINI SPOILERS FOR: Kafka on the shore and The Sailor who Fell from Grace with the Sea. Hi my favorite work of art of all time is Vagabond by Takehiko Inoue | LOVE this manga it's beautifully written eye candy. | love the whole philosophical element to it and how it has a “Japanese Vibe” | thought…
Google isn't helping me out much so I decided to try here. I'm searching for a book in which the reader can follow along and get immersed in the character's life, from when they're a child all the way until they die (or get older) I want it to be meaningful and heart wrenching in a beautiful way.…
I suppose what I'm looking for is more like a post-apocalyptic society, where people are having to re-form communities and get by as best they can. Nothing too dark, more uplifting if anything. I've read (and loved) Station Eleven, so that's a bit of a guide. Thanks!
My mom just died and I need an escape. Some of my favorite books/trilogies to disappear into have been: Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood The Stand by Stephen King The Passage by Justin Cronin Wanderers by Chuck Wendig Book of the Unnamed Midwife by Meg Elison Wool by Hugh Howey His Dark…
I really love this genre but i can barely empathize with the protagonist when they're 17 I feel I wasn't that "mature" at their age and it just feel weird idk if you know about fantasy books with characters +20 years
Going through a full life upheaval, uncertainty everywhere, broke up with someone I thought I’d share a future with, and things feel pretty dark and hopeless. I’m looking for something to cheer me up and make me feel hopeful and take my mind off reality. Preferably engaging fiction, WITHOUT any…
I’ve read a lot of books, but here are some of ones that have done this for me: * The Book Thief * The Stormlight Archive * Princess Bride * Red Rising * Project Hail Mary * It * Frankenstein * The Catcher In the Rye * The Forever War * The King in Yellow * Beneath a Scarlet…
Looking to build my library. I have extremely enjoyed the works of frank Herbert (dune series) as well as "the name of the wind" by Patrick rothfuss. I also plan to read the "briar king and "art of ice and fire" series. I am looking for higher reading level books that are either sci-fi or fantasy, I…
what are book that changed your life that aren’t like self help books
I want to read novels with a character like Hannibal Lecter but, make it female. Basically, if you know any female characters that are literally the female version of Hannibal(yes, the cannibalism and everything), please suggest the book! Thank you in advance!!
So many books are enjoyable along the way with good characters but leave me feeling like the ending was mediocre. I love Stephen King but he is especially guilty of this. Can you recommend a book that felt like it really wrapped up well? I’m open minded genre wise.
I would love to read books set in a book store or library please let me know if you have any good suggestions thank you! I have read : Midnight library and Mr penumbra 24 hour bookstore
OR a book you accidentally stayed up all night reading. I just read An American Marriage by Tayari Jones and Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune and couldn't put either of them down. I'm open to anything - just suggest me the last (or any) book you read that you couldn't put down!
Hi! I used to read a lot more than I do, books that I would hide under my desk and read through class. I’m looking to find that feeling again of being really invested in a book so I turn to it instead of my phone when I have downtime. Some things I like (generally) - strong female leads - tame…
Some pirate-y fun stuff like that. Not the Gentlemen Bastards tho. That one was okay to me. Anything else :)
I don’t really read books so it’s so hard for me to gift a book. She is a historian at the library, British humour, like shows like: mrs browns boys, doc Martin, outlander/Harry Potter (read the books too)
Looking for fiction books that are best read without reading the synopsis first or knowing anything about it. Someone recommended I read We Need to Talk About Kevin this way, and the added mystery/shock value was super satisfying.
I usually read horror/thriller books, or crime mysteries. I'm currently reading hideaway by dean koontz and I think after this one I've had my fill of being disturbed for a while lol. The books I've enjoyed the most had a lot of action and suspense. Especially crime mysteries, psychological…
Looking for a story that takes place across 80-100 years, specifically one that effectively jumps long periods of time while maintaining the plot's momentum.
I have read several books by Nigerian authors and loved them. Also recently I read Yaa Gyasi who has Ghanaian roots, have some idea about South African authors, Egyptian. Beyond this, I haven't read much while Africa is a vast continent with diverse cultures and dynamic histories. Please suggest…
Books that tackle such longing, such feeling of worthlessness. Books that change one's point of view, mind-blowing. ((Very specific situation ofc I'm referring to a friend pffff))
Mistborn: The Final Empire is on sale for Kindle, so I am debating whether to buy it or not.
I want to read any and all.
I’ve got a baby girl on the way in January. (I’m dad) I want to build a small library of books to read to her as she grows and hopefully cultivate a love of reading in her as well. I love fantasy, such as the princess bride and the last unicorn. I’d love suggestions from any genre though. Mostly…
I really loved the World War Z because it tells stories before and during the outbreak. There were tense moments where society was on the brink of a total collapse. And boy I really love the panic and dread on a society scale. Is there any book that are great at depicting such situations, whether…
Can be anything, but winter, snow and cold have to play some role in it. Not just be there, but also doesn't have to be the main thing. Like it was in Pandemic by Jana Wagner. Edit: thank you to everyone in comments. Looked through your recommendations and some look really good
Looking for some solid time travel recommendations. I’ve read: Doors of Sleep, In Times Like These Series, Threshold Series, Paradox Bound, Here and Now and Then, Recursion, and The Midnight Library. Would love something similar. Hit me with them.
Hard back for $2 at thrift
& there's not much more in the world that's been able to take my mind away from the everyday nuisances and struggles of life, than reading a great book. Just here looking for any suggestions? I typically enjoy non-fiction, autobiographies, history, but also fiction as far as having a realistic…
or something similar to them But one single Novel (no series if possible)
Everybody always suggests Dune, or Hyperion as some of the best sci-fi books out there, but these lean more towards fantasy imo. I want some space focused books that portray things in a realistic way that also offer some cosmic-horror vibes. Can also include first-contact type books. Books i’ve…
What books made you feel that way?
I'm looking for some recs for cute queer adult romance books. I am LOVING the proliferation of queer YA books in the last couple years, but I'm 39 years old and reading about teen romance feels a little squicky to me. I'm looking for something more on the cute & sweet side - I'm fine with sexual…
I’m looking for a book that will literally be a page turner. I want to be thinking about it when I’m not reading it. A book that I’ll want to tell everyone about and seek out podcasts/YouTube videos about it. Something so gripping that it will make me wonder what secondary characters are thinking…
Hi this is my first post here. I am looking for a fictional novel (not ya) where the protagonist is lost in life and is not sure what he wants to do. I am currently going through this phase, so I want a book I can relate to. I also suffer from anxiety and suicidal thoughts sometimes.
I love reading, and I’ve often turned to them when it feels like life is hard. My twenties didn’t quite go as I thought they would— health issues, parental death, career took a turn. But I want to take on this decade with hope. But a lot of books I read have protagonists who are mid twenties and it…
Something similar to Netflix’s Midnight Mass or the lindenfeld arc of castlevania season 3. Or the entire Rachel sanctuary storyline if you’ve ever played ragnarok online. Also the more lovecraftian, the better!
I’m a hardcore kindle simp but my brother got me a gift card for a book store so I’m wondering if there are any books that are just better to have a physical copy version of ??? Whether it’s good to take notes in, has key visual components, or maybe I’ll impress some hot person on public transport…
I’m curious if anyone knows of any books, fiction or non-fiction, that delve into the topic of housewives in the 50’s & 60’s and their use of drugs like amphetamines and barbiturates?
We lost our 6 year old angel Serena to cancer 8 months and 18 days ago. She loved books and the two years she spent fighting cancer, we read to her every night. After months of grieving, my husband and I decided to continue the the tradition, and now we read a chapter or two together every night.…
Seeking suggestions for extremely enthralling fall vibes / spooky and mindfucky books. The kind of book where you want to snuggle under a blanket and read all day sipping on some tea. Nothing too scary (like not straight up horror lol) bc then I’ll have nightmares lol. Will take any and all…
The kind of books I want are philosophies that solidified your world view. I want a book that would help me truly see the world for it's beauty and become more moral. I want a book to help me see past the earth but see the bigger picture. Exactly like the way Carl Sagan views the world in the pale…
Hi guys, I was recently dumped and haven't had the easiest of times coping ever since. I believe that even though I loved my partner very much and they weren't perfect in any sense, certain qualities within me did make me a horrible person to be with sometimes (overthinking, passive aggressiveness…
I know that most books have poor film adaptation, however there are some movies that not only do not do justice to the books but also do the opposite of publicity by changing the story, skipping important events, introducing really unnecessary parts or just being bad.
I know this is dumb, but for the longest time I put off reading The Lord of the Rings, simply because I figured "Well the movies are great, so the books must just be like the movies." But after reading the books, and having other examples like 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep' and…
I am a left leaning person, but want to read about the perspective of the right, only issue is most right leaning authors are "Liberals stupid and bad". Any person that can just summarize their beliefs without insulting. Like a rosa luxemburg but on the right. I don't mind if they're solely…
Can someone recommend some apocalyptic or post-apocalyptic books are for adults and have more mature themes that those found in the young adult genre? Thank you. Edit: Butchered the title. I meant not in the Young Adult genre*
I absolutely adored the book Circe by Madeleine Miller. As awesome as Greek mythology is, I like Norse mythology more. Any books out there similar to Circe, but with Norse gods? (Odin, Freya, Thor, Loki, etc)
The trippier the better. Fine with gore, psychological thriller, etc.
I feel like many books with women as protagonists in the comedy fiction genre either are about a burned out mother or someone trying to make it in Manhattan. I would love to find a series that is easy and fun to read with women being more than mother/fashion guru.
I know some people might say that those ingredients are the salt and pepper of a fiction book but I do not find that. It takes a great amount of talent to captivate the reader with pure and common events, with style and humour. I can give you some examples: Measuring the world by Daniel Kehlmann…
I have read Kindred, and Bloodchild and Other Short Stories, but I wanted to know what are the best Octavia Butler books?
I’ve just watched Squid Game and I have some movies/shows to watch but I’d love any books with similar themes or stories. Namely the idea of people having to make these big moral decisions, life or death, and weighing up pragmatism vs emotions.
Inspired by the #FacebookDown I tried to imagine a world where the internet would just stop and we would reinvent ourselves. Is there a book about this kind of thing? (I realize that it's a very specific question).
Hey all! October is starting and I am planning to read a horror book...cliché, I know, but it is the first time I do it.... I have read some Edgar Alan Poe and Stephen King books, and while they are scary, I can manage to sleep at night. I'm still looking for a scary book that will haut me for the…
I love to read some dark, twisted stories, but I'm never too sure where to look. These could be horror, just plain messed up, nonfiction, or even just weird to the point it's off-putting. I'd love to see your recommendations! Quick edit: Great recommendations! I'm gonna start reading some of these,…
Not Narnia. And i prefer if the protagonist got to be an adult in the fantástical world. Ty.
I'm kind of new to the world of reading, these are the books I've read: 1984, Animal Farm, Brave New World, Flowers For Algernon, Lord of the Flies, The picture of Dorian Gray. I've heard that Stephen King's books are really good, so I want to read one, I hope you guys can help me decide. Thanks!
I am looking for a non-fiction book to introduce me to politics, I would like to learn what are the different political ideologies that exist, where they come from or what exactly they defend.
I've really gotten into sci-fi and fantasy books lately and I'm looking for some more series (at least 3 books, preferably longer) that I can sink myself into. I've read and thoroughly enjoyed the following, so I would love some more suggestions that fit in the same realm of these series: *…
I’m planning on buying the sailor who fell from grace today but i want some more Japanese literature, i don’t want some murakami i’ve read about his works and it’s not for me
I want a female protagonist. She should be successful in her career. Also, she should not be with men. I don’t care about her sexual orientation but I just don’t want a woman’s love story. I want more. I’m okay with both modern or classics but you should know that I’m not a native english speaker.…
